Bussy Fishing

Hi Readers:

The fishing in the lagoons for tarpon has produced some intense action. In a period of 2 1/2 week for tarpon fishing we achieved 203 tarpon bites were most of them were 15 to 30 pounds with a good number of 60+ pounders landed. This action is not under mangrove branches were you average 3-8 pound tarpon and in numbers that can make any young kid feel like a pro. This is the time of the year were we fish some intense incoming tides on full moon periods matching early night to midnight. This combination can produce up 12 bites of 50-100+ pound tarpon. These strong incoming tides not only produce big tarpon but up to 30 pound snooks as well. Congratulations to Capt. Juan Torruella and Luis Falcon on this 25 pound snook on board Mantis.  On June 26, Caribbean Outfitters was booked for a tarpon tournament along with the other 2 active tarpon charter services in the lagoons area. Our two boats finished with winning positions, 1rst place Tarpon Sniper and 3rd place Mantis on the second place was Borinken Fishing Charter, there was no room for “wanna be”. This tournament was for the first 3 biggest tarpon. If you would like to book us for our next October tarpon tournament please contact us for a winning position.

At offshore the marlin and tuna action is very competitive. Capt. Juan and Capt. David achieved 34 tunas on 3 1/2 days on green water close to the 100 fathom line. Today we went just for blue marlin on a hot bite were Big Kahuna raised 5 blue marlin, Blue shadow raised 2 and First Lady landed a 275 pound blue marlin. Almost every boat fishing today in the north shore San Juan were able to raise at least one blue marlin. We are still open for the International Billfish Tournament in San Juan.

We will have top notch billfish action for blue marlin, white marlin and sailfish all the way until December. Increasing whities and sails from late October to December.

Thank you all for your support.

Calm Before Storm!!!

In the last year we kept the same average size and amount of tarpon action per trip, 8 to 12 bites with many 1/2 days of 12 to 18 bites averaging 25 to 60 pounds. For example in the last 5 days we took 8 1/2 days, split on 2 boats in the morning for 3 days and 2 days one boat, the aftermath was 111 tarpon bites.  These are wild tarpons not hand fed from marinas or fishing village. From last fall till today Capt. David and Capt Omar guided and landed over 20 tarpons in the 100 pound range were Capt. David alone achieved 50 tarpon from 50 to 80 pounds on the boat . This proofs that on Caribbean Outfitters we can land big tarpons and have over 10 tarpon bites all year around not only on Winter or early Spring months or when weather permits. We improved our tarpon techniques in a way that no one can stand close to our numbers. Avoid excuses of seasons, weather and all other fishing stories other Capts like to use when they can’t perform. We don’t like fishing stories we live one and we want you to be part of this magnificent experience. When you book with us you book a life time experience.

For our deep sea fishing experience First Lady went threw a massive refit. Full All Grip paint job,  Raymarine CW90 series electronics, cleats, gauges, navigation LED lights, under water LED light, Pompanet 16,000 BTU A/C, 2 mezzanine etc. We will be available to fish world knowen St. Thomas North Drop on July and Aug featuring top notch staff,  Shimano Tiagra tackle, brand lures, swich, bait and fly fishing up on request.  We will be booking minimum of 2 Full days per request. Summer Bonanza

Well this was a typical summer for tarpon fishing in the lagoons, hot, slow surface action in general terms except around strong tides and drastic weather changes. What was not typical are the results we achieve on our tarpon trips in the last 3 month. When my competitor are calling 2-4, 3-5 bites on 15-30 pounds tarpon per trip, we average 6-12 bites on 30-70 pound tarpon. My last customer fish 2 3/4 day and jump 28 bites on both trips (Milton Raynolds Sept. 27 & 29) both days were a struggle and nightmare for my competitors action wise.  Since June we land 35 tarpon over 50 pounds. Out of this 35 tarpon 7 of them were 80 pound, 1 90 pound and 3 100 pound. Here is a list of date and name of some of the lucky customes that are on Caribbea Outfitter’s Clubs

80 POUND CLUB

Andrew Tindel     7/13/09

Ted Mason          7/14/09

Mr. Eyer              8/18/09

Jaime Acosta      8/25/09

Jim Bodacious    9/22/09

90 POUND CLUB

Ted Mason         7/14/09

100 POUND CLUB

Matt Brown        7/20/09

Brian Chang       7/16/09

Tim Lawrance    10/1/09

This list is only for the last 3 month. On the 80 pound club 3 names are missing but dates are available. For this year the total amount of tarpon on the 100 pound club is 6, the biggest was 130. The reason of this results are a combination of true experience, years of hard work and performing on different techniques and concentrating on catching the biggest fish on the area achieving the maximum amount of bites.

On May we had a very unusual scenario were one lagoon on the system has discompose water after a strong rain. When it stop I decide to hope on my boat with a 8wt fly rod to target tarpon. Make 43 cast had 29 bites fought 11 and landed 2 about 60 pounds, all alone and by my self after a 1/2 jar of sangria yijaaa!!!! Wanna talk about fun!!!! Go figure!!!!

Don’t forget that when you fish on Caribbean Outfitters your get almost two decades on experience, true dedication, and scientific facts of the species we are targeting. We are the rocket scientist of this lagoons, we broke new grounds on the sport fishing in Puerto Rico and we still.  Avoid spend 2 hours of your precious time on a 40 pound tarpon for the same story of the one we lost on 8 pound test. You are not only loosing time but also your money.

Off shore the action has been concentrate on the full moon and new moon phases. The average bite is 2-4 on billfishBlue marlin, white marlin and sailfish will fill our expectation during the fall were there is our best shot at a grand slam. Oct is the first month were we start the mahi-mahi season along with wahoo. From know on we will be fishing on 20 & 30 pound test. Thank you for the support of our customers. If i miss a name on any of the clubs please contact me to publish your information.

NOTE:

Make sure you do your home work before you book your deep sea fishing, ask the person if he still have a capt licence and was not revoke by negligence. If had any casualty or death on he’s charter by flipping hes boat on 15 foot swells. We have one very irresponsible nasty Capt on the hole Island make sure you don’t end up in hes lies and fool so you be safe.
