Tarpon & Billfish Winter Report
North Shore San Juan, First Lady is going 4 out 5 trips with some kind of action. We had from mahi-mahi, small wahoo and tuna to a mix bag of billfish. Sailfish still strong and small blue marlin are report on almost every boat boat fishing in new or full moon periods.
In the lagoons, fishing was slow for the last 3 weeks with a average of 2-6 tarpon bites per 1/2 day. A good reason is a combination of very cold water for our area and bad tides matching most mornings and afternoons. In the last 3-4 days water temperature is getting warmer and along with it some reports of big school of small to medium size feeding very active on the surface, creating a perfect scenario for fly fishing. Today we had 5 solid hook up and land 2 small tarpon in the big lagoon or the Play Ground, San Jose Lagoon…..all fly fishing in 4 hours. In the up coming month like late Feb, March and April is our run of big tarpon in the lagoons. Big tarpon is our passion in CO and with 11 tarpon guided between 140-170 pounds on my belt, I am nothing but thursty to make this year my number 12th just to complete the dozen in my carrier and enjoy the jumps of 72 inch short measurement next to the boat. Are you ready to rock? Book it and will hook it!!! Thank you for your time.
See You Next Tide
